‘Shades of Blackness’ is the first in a series of shorts from COMUNE highlighting DROP CITY contributors personal and professional lives. Sometimes intimate, these portraits are meant to expose the viewer to each individual in a way rarely seen and to give a brief glimpse into the reasons why we feel they are so special.
When deciding on who we should feature in the first installment, it was clear that it had to be Warren. He’s just one of those people who approaches life as an opportunity to experience and create as much as he possibly can despite the consequences. His ‘carefree idealism’ is what COMUNE was founded on, and what we continue to stand behind today.

The Abigials first LP ‘Songs of Love and Despair’ is available now via Itunes and their new record ‘Tundra’ will be out soon on Burger Records.

The decision to feature Warren Thomas and his band The Abigails in our first installment was simple. Warren is insanely talented, one of the nicest guys we’ve had the pleasure to work with and the exact definition of the ideals COMUNE was founded upon :

PURPOSE // COMUNE was formed from the idea that there will always be people out there who not only embrace the rawness and imperfections of everyday life but use it to creatively push the boundaries of what’s possible, with complete disregard of the consequences.

FUNCTION // Our goal is to provide clothing that reflects a lifestyle of carefree idealism and to support the people who choose to live it.

Drop City contributor Paul Loya will be opening the doors to his brand new gallery space this weekend with an insane group exhibition.

Paul Loya Gallery is proud to present it’s inaugural grand opening April 27th, HIT THE LIGHTS. After 2 years of hand selecting
each artist, the gallery is very pleased to be showcasing an exhibition to introduce this very talented group of artists
that is the foundation of the gallery’s program. One of Paul’s main visions for the gallery was have a family-like unit with
the artists; a place they could call home. After finding and researching each one through different avenues, coincidently a
majority of them either knew of each other or were friends already. Having this unique bond between the artists will allow for
amazing collaborations, inspiration and feedback amongst one another.

Paul Loya Gallery exhibits emerging and established contemporary artists in a unique gallery setting, Paul Loya Gallery sets
a blank canvas for each of the exhibiting artists to create his or her own creative environment that best compliments their
work. Giving the viewer a complete experience of the artist’s vision. We want to provide a space to embrace a community
for artist, collectors, friends and supporters to have events and gatherings both casual and formal.
