This past weekend COMUNE employees, team guys, and friends headed North to the overcast skies and sandy dunes of Pismo Beach, California. Our trip was titled “Gareth Don’t Surf” after COMUNE skater, Gareth Stehr. On our trip we found out a lot about Gareth. Not only does he not surf, Gareth “don’t” wake up until the late afternoon, Gareth “don’t” have a problem getting shit-housed drunk, Gareth “don’t” take showers, Gareth “don’t” mind giving everyone homemade tattoos, Gareth “don’t” have a front door to his tent, and Gareth “don’t” know how to not have a blast at all times camping!..

Not only does he not surf, Gareth “don’t” wake up until the late afternoon, Gareth “don’t” have a problem getting shit-housed drunk, Gareth “don’t” take showers, Gareth “don’t” mind giving everyone homemade tattoos, Gareth “don’t” have a front door to his tent, and Gareth “don’t” know how to not have a blast at all times camping!

If you’re ever been to Pismo beach you know it’s a complete shit show. We literally had to fight for our campsite and defend it everyday from people trying to take it over and camp right on top of us. Fortunately Julie “mad dog” Shumaker barged us a camping spot and defended our land. Other than the omega busy factor it’s a very scenic place and pretty fun. Once we settled in and crushed a few cold buddies we rented four-wheelers and hit the sand dunes. COMUNE sales department released their inner 909 and proceeded to get all X-Games on the rentals. Guaranteed those things will never be the same after Matt “Danger” Davis and Sean “Air time” Ciminesi ravaged around the dunes full throttle. Not to be out done VP of Marketing, Julie Shumaker bagged a little airtime as well. Not to toot my own horn, but I’m pretty much team Land Rover now after I blasted my LR3 over a 20’ sand dune. Yeah, all four wheels off the ground, that’s how I roll.

So the day lead to night and all of our faces hurt after laughing so hard on the dunes. We consumed copious amounts of booze and creeped each other out with campfire stories of ghosts and urban legends. The next day we headed to town and did the tourist routine. Some of the guys surfed and the rest of us hit up the local watering hole, Harry’s for delicious bloody buddies. When we got back to the campground it was tattoo time. Gareth busted out legit tattoo needles and we all got a little homemade artwork. Hey they only last forever! The sun set, the waves crashed, and the good times rolled on – adding another epic camping trip and chapter to COMUNE summer adventures.
