After SF I headed to Tahoe and Auburn for the 4th of July weekend to see some friends and meet up with COMUNE snowboarders, Ben Rice, and Andrew Brewer. Andrew Brewer was on fire. Hood to meet Brendan Gerard who had been lurking around Gov’t Camp. All Gerard had with him was his beat up snowboard, a ski mask, and some porno magazines. Kid’s these days right? It was windy as hell but we decided to make it happen regardless and we hit the slopes. After spending hours in line and getting raped for lift tickets we snowboarded for a couple hours and decided that summer was better spent lounging by the river rather than trying to make somthing out of nothing in July.
The next day I drove straight back to LA for the “Furious Sons” group show curated by Jen Wolf. The show was held at Ghettogloss gallery on Melrose. Ryan De La Hoz also had work in the show. I met up with some great friends including COMUNE/Drop City artist Danielle DeFoe, Andrew Kuykendall, and Jason Lee Parry. It was a great turn out and the beer flowed like water.
